Its thirty-six rooms and six suites, divided equally across three floors, look out toward Halicarnassus on the far shore. By day, from a spacious balcony, you can watch the sun play colours across the sky; by night, you can sit in the silence and count the stars. When the moon is full, it is reflected on the still, dark blue of the sea.
The oldest hotel on the island, «Albergo Gelsomino», has stood to the left of «Kos Aktis» since 1927. To the right, a cycling path runs down to the marina, and opposite the main entrance an enormous fig tree presides over the park along Vasileos Georgiou street.
Glass is, without question, the material that defines the building. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the corridors and rooms make it perfectly bright and let the hotel breathe with everything around it. The thick glass of the balconies turns the dividers between rooms into aligned canvases, where the sky is reflected in a different colour each time — from a distance, they look like paintings hung in mid-air. On the ground floor, the sliding glass doors of the bar-restaurant «H2O» make the tables seem to float on the sea. Wherever you stand in the hotel, you are either looking at the water or watching the world move just beyond the glass.

That was the idea from the start: to let the ever-changing images born from moving water and shifting light flow freely through the building, so the traveller feels their surroundings constantly changing even as everything, in truth, stays exactly the same.
